Composition of the Council

The Accreditation Council has a chairman, a vice-chairman and seven other members.

  • The Minister for Research, Innovation and Higher Education appoints the chairman after consulting with the Minister for Education and the Minister for Culture. In addition, the Minister for Research, Innovation and Higher Education appoints eight members, of which three have been recommended by the Minister of Education and one by the Minister of Culture.
  • The last member is a student who is appointed following a recommendation from the student representatives on the executive committees of the educational institutions of higher education.

The members of the Accreditation Council have been elected on the basis of their experience with and knowledge of quality assurance, higher education, research and labour market conditions.

  • One of the members must have international accreditation experience, just as one member must be from abroad.
  • The Council should be composed of an equal number of men and women.
  • The Chairman and the members are appointed for a period of four years.
  • However, the student representative is only appointed for a period of one year.
  • Members are eligible for reappointment once.
